Val Waterhouse
Val Waterhouse first joined the NHS in the early 1990’s after a period of NHS Reform when as a local businesswoman; she was invited by the Hospital Chairman to be a Non-Executive of the Board. Val worked for North East Linocolnshire NHS Trust for 8 years as a Non-Executive Director and later as Vice Chairman.
Val has since been Chairman of North East Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) since it was formed in April 2000, before which she was Chairman of the Primary Care Group from Feburary of that year.
Born in Birmingham and raised in Canada, Val came to live in Cleethorpes in the mid-1960’s and has been in the area ever since. She met and married in the area in the mid-1970’s and had 2 children who are now 28 and 24.
Following the death of her husband in 1984, Val became Managing Director of the family business supplying high visibility products and road safety attire for industry nationwide and in Europe.
Specialising in marketing and promotion, Val also has a keen interest in communication which are all invaluable skills in the role of Chairman. Her Company has received industry awards for innovation which she cites as motivational and rewarding for the staff with whom she shares and dedicates the accolade of Business Woman of the Year in 1991 presented by Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister at the time.
More recently, she also Chairs the Economic Regeneration Board with the Council and Chairs the areas’ Enterprise Agency which counsels Business Start-up within the Business Link network.
