Don Redding
Don Redding has been head of policy and communications at Picker Institute Europe since 2006. He works with the Department of Health, parliamentarians, think tanks and NHS bodies to ensure that patient engagement becomes an effective policy priority, and that patients’ views are taken into account at all levels of healthcare.
Don commissioned and edited Picker Institute Europe’s 2007 and 2009 surveys of patient and public engagement in PCT commissioning.
He has produced evidence on PPE for the House of Commons health select committee inquiry (2007) and the Local Government Association’s Health Commission on local health service accountability. He has worked with PCTs on the development of their communications and engagement strategies.
Don is a member of the PPI Steering Group of the NHS Alliance, a regular contributor to the British Journal of Healthcare Management, and has written for the Health Service Journal and Guardian Society.
